Amy Becke

Amy is a Ballet and Contemporary performer and teacher born in South Shields. In 2019 she graduated from Ballet West Scotland with a First-Class BA Honours degree and during her training she travelled to Malaysia to perform Swan Lake with the Ballet West International touring company. After graduating, Amy continued her training at ‘Ballet Cymru 2’. She performed Romeo and Juliet with the company and had the opportunity to create work with Marcus Jarrell Willis and Jack Phlip.
In October 2020, Amy decided to pursue an MA in Advanced Dance Performance at Dance City and she graduated in August 2021 with a Distinction. Here she had the opportunity to tour England with works by Southpaw Dance Company, Alleyne Dance and Mischief Company.
Since graduating, Amy has worked with Southpaw Dance Company to develop a Motion Capture performance and has taken part in BBC Young Dancer 2022. She has also been involved in various research and development projects with North East based companies and independent artists. This July she travelled to Spain to take part in the Deltebre Dansa intensive where she trained with Anton Lachky, Fighting Monkey and Hofesh Shechter Company.
Since last August Amy has been the Public Classes Ballet teacher at Dance City as well assisting on the CAT Programme. Most recently she joined the Dance City Engagement department as an outreach teacher. Amy is excited to be part of the process and tour of 'Waiting on It' and to work with such a brilliant team.
